Colossians 3:8
But nowyou must rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips.
Have you really considered the power of the words you use? One of my children did something (not mentioning which one). It was a gesture this child used which indicated a bad word. This child thought it would be okay so this child did it....got in trouble for it and was sent to the principles office. This child knew what the gesture meant (at least knew the word) and did it anyway...."rid yourselves of....filthy language". This child learned a big lesson....words hurt. This child didn't even know what the word meant and learned further still not to "say" things you don't know the meaning of.
The Bible says no one can tame the tongue. James compares it to the rudder of the ship...that little part of any ocean bearing ship that directs the path of the ship (the steering wheel of sorts). It's true our words to guide conversations don't they? They do a lot more than that too....
Next time you talk to someone compare your speech (your words) to Colossians 3:8. It's easy to become a different person when we are insecure or self protect too...ask yourself if you really are talking to a person or if you are defending yourself. Your words can do a lot.
My hope for you my friends is that your words will be like rich soil that your friends can grow in and are the byproduct of the close relationship with Jesus you possess.
God Bless you all.
