If you live in or near my hometown you will have experienced windy weather today. It comes with perfect timing as I look ahead to a change in direction. The new Year is approaching and I've been doing a lot of thinking. Many say "life is interresting or good". I say God is good and the giver and sustainer of life. So how is God going to sustain your and me this New Year? Are you aniticipating an adventure? My adventure does not really appeal to the athletic ones out there: no mountain climbing, wind surfing or cross atlantic excursions either. My adventure sonsists of waiting on theLord. Sound exciting?....that's not how I would first describe it.
Waiting on the Lord involves what my friend quoted from the bible "be still and know that I am God". This is what I anticipate: a lot of quiet while God works in my heart. I don't know how you personally handle waiting however I "can" become anxious. "Do not anxiously look about you for I am your God" - a direction bluntly put to those who follow Him. I really don't know what year 2009 will hold. I trust God will bring peace and joy, my children another year older and closer to the Lord, same for my friends and more direction but I don't know the details. God is good in this ~ He consistantly guides me ~ preparees my heart for change. Currently there is so much "change" in the air, so many plates spinning, questions unanswered that I do not know what the final outcome will be. Confession: this is where fear and anxiety can bear fruit. So, all who read this whoever you are, please consider praying for me in this way:
"Above all, you must live as citizens of Heaven
conducting yourselves in a manner worth of the Good News about Christ.
Then whether I come and see you again or only hear about you, I will know that you are standing together
with one spirit
and one purpose
fighting together for the faith
which is the Good News"
Philippians 1:27
Lastly, I wanted to add this scripture. It had special meaning for me. I will not type it here but i will ask that you read this in the New Living Translation. 1 Thessalonians 3
I wish you all a Joyfull, Spirit filled, God Blessed New Year!
....Dawn
